The Zeitgeist Movement RBE?–Veganism Is A Resource-Based Economy!
Are we within The Zeitgeist Movement
demonizing money same as religions use “Evil”!?
Are we — who avow a Resource-Based Economy (RBE) — within The Zeitgeist Movement (TZM) certain that money is the root of all evil? Do we really know the origins of scarcity and corruption (fear)? Will we humble ourselves before the facts of our exponentially declining resources, and temper our consumption to create abundance and equality (Love)? Presently our gluttonous consumption is massacring our resources, and threatening any possibility for a RBE, or any sustainable future. “The fact is, efficiency, sustainability, and abundance are enemies of profit.” ~Zeitgeist Addendum. Does this mean we simply wait for “the coming of” a RBE, while patronizing, yet cursing, the profiteers of doom?
In the beginning: We may pontificate our beliefs of human biological origins and behavioral rituals of MAD (meat and dairy) consumption until our last resource has been consumed, yet, at this point of our evolution, the facts are; humans are anatomically and physiologically herbivorous. Understandably because of millennia of being born and bred — told and sold over these last few centuries — to believe we humans are omnivores, these facts are taking much time to convert our belief stricken herd. Unfortunately time is not a luxury our resources (Nature) have. “Unless we change our food choices, nothing else matters… We are so close to the red line, we may wake up tomorrow and discover there is nothing left to save.” ~Maneka Gandhi, former Union Minister of State, Environment and Forests, India.
Our abominable crimes against nature: For the purposes of this deliberation, the moral implications of enslaving, exploiting, and sacrificing innocent sentient beings will be left to each soul to ponder within their belief system of choice. What is not one’s choice, is the raping and pillaging of “our” Mother Earth’s resources — the end-times may be here and now — no matter what one may wish to prophesize (RBE). The following are just a few environmental abominations created by our MAD consumption:
Deforestation: Rainforests currently account for less than 6% of Earth’s land surface (14% at the beginning of our industrial age), and are declining at a rate of 35-50+ million acres per year. According to FAO, and every other org on the planet; approximately 70-90% of ALL deforestation is caused by our MAD consumption resulting in desertification from overgrazing. The Atlantic forest of Brazil has now been reduced to 5% — “…remnant patches in a sea of agricultural fields.” ~RainforestConservation.org
Water waste: 2500 – 6000 gallons of water to produce 1 pound of flesh (cow–not a resource). 1000 gallons of water to produce 1 gallon of milk; 10 gallons of milk = 1 pound of cheese. According to WorldWatch.org water waste for 2 pounds of flesh is equivalent to taking a 7 minute shower everyday for a year — A Vegan can run their shower 24/7 and still not waste as much water as the average MAD consumer.
Energy waste: 40+ fossil-fuel calories to produce 1 calorie of cow protein versus 2 fossil fuel calories to produce 1 calorie of soy or wheat protein. On average a flesh-based diet wastes 17 times the energy of a plant-based diet. “We have to alter our behavior to force the power structure to the will of the people. We must stop supporting the system.” ~Zeitgeist Addendum.
Toxic sewage: MAD agriculture produces 130 times the waste of our total human population. Much of this toxic waste, now being passed off as organic fertilizer by profiteers, is also moving into our oceans resulting in 100’s of low-oxygen dead zones — presently we have 535 documented dead zones — “We must stop eating the oceans. Eating fish is, for all intents and purposes, an ecological crime.” ~Captain Paul Watson, Sea Shepherd.
Gluttonous Starvation: Over 1 billion humans are presently starving on our planet; 40,000+ humans die of starvation everyday while we feed our erroneous elitist appetites; over 1 billion humans are overweight or obese. The 15-22 pounds of grain we presently waste to produce 1 pound of nonhuman animal flesh, would solve world starvation (populicide) 14 times over — “Our outmoded social systems have broken apart. It’s time to claim the unity and work together to create a sustainable global society, where everyone is taken care of and everyone is truly free.” ~Zeitgeist Addendum.
Ice water in hell: “We’re toast if we don’t get on a very different path.” -Dr. James Hansen, Director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. NASA satellite images show that the remainder of our Arctic Sea ice will be gone by the summer of 2012!
Root of all corruption: “Corruption is not some by-product of monetary-ism, it is it’s very foundation.” ~Zeitgeist Addendum. Are we absolutely certain money is the root of all corruption? Money is just a symbol that we may do with — worship — as we choose, much the same as our religious practices of MAD consumption: In a Harvard Study conducted in 1998, there were four groups of rats tested based on diet. It was immediately apparent that the different diets had different effects on behavior in the four groups:
1). The rats receiving natural food and clean water remained attentive and alert.
2). The rats receiving natural food and hot dogs became violent and fought aggressively.
3). The third group of rats subsisting on products containing sugarcoated cereal and fruit punch were nervous, hyperactive and behaved aimlessly.
4). The fourth group subsisting on doughnuts and cola were unable to function as a social unit. They were fearful and had trouble sleeping.
Dr. Russell Blaylock in his lecture “Nutrition & Behavior“, exposes correlations between nutrition, crime, depression, suicide, and violence. Same as Dr. J. Robert Hatherhill, Environmental Studies Program, University of California at Santa Barbara and EarthSave’s Chief Scientific Advisor, who recommends eliminating flesh and diary because of concentrated toxicity levels that lead to increased violent behaviors.
Tithing our complicity: Without tax subsidies 1 pound of steak (cow) would cost $89, and we who preach a RBE are no less complicit if we partake in this MAD tithing — “Put succinctly, our economic system is completely decoupled from natural processes of the physical world.” –Peter Joseph. Yes, this economic “supply and demand” system, WE religiously support, is killing us and our planet (resources)! Our demands to consume sentient beings is the epitome of a system built on dominance; a futile attempt to satiate our fears of scarcity through slavery: “Any serious social, political, and economic change must include Veganism.” ~Professor Gary L. Francione.
Redemption: “Being wrong is erroneously associated with failure, when, in fact, to be proven wrong should be celebrated, for it elevates someone to a new level of understanding.” -Zeitgeist Addendum. Are we wrong? Are we within TZM demonizing money much the same as religions use Satan; to circumcise our personal responsibilities, and justify our “divine” right to dominate, enslave, and consume? We must sincerely ask ourselves; if not Vegan, is a RBE just another human-centric-holier-than-nature construct, that is doomed to fail? “It’s only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings, and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love.” ~Bill Hicks, The Bill Hicks Foundation for Wildlife.
“It is easier to change a man’s religion than to change his diet.”
“If we can really understand the problem, the answer will come out of it, because the answer is not separate from the problem.” ~Jiddu Krishnamurti, lifelong Vegetarian.
“Our true divinity is in our ability to create. And armed with the understanding of the symbiotic connections of life, while being guided by the emergent nature of reality, there is nothing we cannot do or accomplish.” ~Zeitgeist Addendum.
Please note: Vegan Zeitgeist always assumes that progressive, healthy, and informed humans are acutely aware that to enslave, exploit, and/or murder ANY sentient being, for any reason, is the most grievous act against all humane-kind, and the antithesis of a Resource-Based Economy.
